As of May, 2002, the insulin is $65 per bottle, but the shipping is $85, so ordering several bottles is a good idea.

The FDA has apparently cracked down on imports of beef insulin from the UK. The concern is apparently a (rather baseless) fear of "mad cow disease". Some shipments are getting through, however, it takes longer than it once did.

This pharmacy in Houston compounds beef PZI in various strengths, U40, U50 and U100. This insulin is apparently the same recipe as the old Eli Lilly recipe. Results are good in general, but some do not get as good results as the UK PZI.

We can no longer recommend BCP Vet Pharmacy based upon a personal experience after both of our diabetic cats went hypo the week after starting a new bottle.
