Notes from the ASAP CE Veterinary Seminary in Austin, TX 12/4/1999

This section contains information received from the ASAP CE seminary in Austin, TX. It contains my raw notes, both hand written and directly from the handouts, as well as what was learned (ie translated from the notes and from general conversations, etc).

I have decided to put the information up on the site as I get it typed, so check back often as I will be typing this as fast as I can given my other time constraints (like a job, a wife, and two demanding cats, one of whom is currently begging for shrimp).

Some of this information flies in the face of what many diabetic cat owners know. If you find this to be true, please, rather than criticizing me (I just report the information), the information, or the doctors, try to find hard evidence that disputes it. The resources of this site will be made available for ANY research that is needed in the form of on-line surveys, messageboards, articles, etc. The best way to dispute the findings of scientists is with science.

Seminar Speakers

Dr. Gary Norsworth - Dr. Norsworthy graduated from Texas A&M in 1972 and has a practice in San Antonio. He treats both dogs and cats, but if you ever meet him, you will know that he is a cat person, from his cat tie to the background on his laptop. He knows cats, but takes a very scientific approach to the subjects on which he speaks.

Dr. Larry Tilley - Dr. Tilley runs VetMed, a telemedicine service based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He specializes in cardiology, but VetMed consults on many disorders. Telemedicine allows the general practitioner to send xrays, sonograms, and ECG's to specialists, getting almost instant access. It is similar to tech support for vets. Dr. Tilley, as a result, probably sees more cardiac patients than any other vet in the world. He is currently developing a new portal for vet and for patients to open in February, 2000.
