Once in a millennium, you meet that special soul
One who touches your life like no other
Arly was was like that
She leaves a void that can never be filled.

From the time we first met
To the moment she left
She touched us like no other could
There will never be another like her.

We will always have the memories
Of the good times we had
The special way she tilted her head for kisses
Or touched her ear with her paw to tell us that she wanted ear rubs.

Running out of my apartment
Or huddling under the lamp when there was no heat in the apartment
The late night walks down the street with Nancy
Sitting in the grass in the back yard, just watching birds

Begging to walk along the top of the fence
Where she was never able to climb
Waking us up in the middle of the night
For nothing more than a kiss

That special meow
So soft
Almost always mixed with a purr
So neither one was distinguishable from the other.

Chasing flutterbys in the yard
Lying in the sun
Rolling in the catnip
Stalking the mockingbirds in the trees.

And as she got older
And her body began to fail
How we checked on her all day
And celebrated every accomplishment.

From walking outside
To begging for food
To sleeping all night laying next to us
And waking with a kiss.

We checked on her almost constantly
Every time we came home
Every time she moved
She was the first thought of the day, and the last of the night.

There are more memories than words can express
She will live always
In our hearts and our minds
You cannot forget someone like Arly.

Sometimes you just meet that special soul . . .
